Position Overview:

Join us for our Community Harvest Dinner, a community-wide dinner to celebrate this holiday season with our neighbors and friends. During our Harvest Dinner, we serve over 3,000 hot meals from a specially selected menu. Our Harvest Dinner also includes live entertainment and a number of family engaging activities. Volunteers will join MT to help prepare for our Harvest Dinner event.

NOTE: There may be minimal lifting of boxes and bags. 

NOTE 2: This event takes place at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (1600 Morris Road SE, Washington, DC 20020)

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting inventory management.
  • Assembling and hanging decorations.
  • Arranging chairs and tables for the event.
  • Supporting other general set up tasks for the event. 

Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Developed May Include:

  • Organizational skills: Keeping a clean preparation area, staying on assigned tasks, and following instructions. 
  • Interpersonal skills: Interacting with other volunteers and staff effectively to ensure a seamless market experience.
  • Communication skills: Actively listening to other volunteers, staff, and community members when they communicate their needs.
  • Developing a commitment to compassion, respect, teamwork, and accountability: successfully working with a diverse array of individuals, including other volunteers, guests, and staff, towards a common goal.

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the assistant may be asked to stand for extended periods, comfortably lift at least 30 lbs., and maintain an active shift.
