THEME: Revive the Spirit of the Historic Million Man March & the beloved UNIFEST
Unifest DC is a revival of the city's cultural festival, now called the Unifest Revival 2025, taking place on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Anacostia, in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of the Million Man March. This revival is a significant cultural event for DC, celebrating its rich heritage and community through various activities including pop-ups, food, go-go music, and gospel speakers.
During Unifest DC, Martha's Table will host a pop-up market at our Martha's Outfitters location to distribute fresh produce and pantry items to our neighbors attending this amazing event. Join us to celebrate a tremendous moment of DC culture with food and lots of fun!
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist Market Leader with market set-up tasks, including setting up tables, baskets, and other supplies
- Support unloading and organizing produce and dry goods deliveries from vendors
- Ensure the market is stocked with grocery items throughout the market
- Interact with community members in a front-facing role to provide excellent customer service
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Developed May Include:
- Interpersonal skills: Interacting with other volunteers and staff effectively to ensure a seamless market experience
- Communication skills: Actively listening to other volunteers, staff, and community members when they communicate their needs
- Problem-solving and time-management skills: Working in a fast-paced market environment to balance operational needs vs. the needs of the market. For example, if we are out of stock of a popular food item, but the line is very long.
- Leadership skills: If necessary, delegate tasks to other volunteers so they can effectively support you
- Organizational skills: Ensure food inventory and supplies are stocked neatly
Working Description:
While performing the duties of this job, the assistant may be asked to stand for extended periods of time, comfortably lift 30-50 lbs., and maintain an active shift.
