Position Overview:
The District Dads program at Martha's Table offers a nurturing space for dadsto connect, grow, and access essential resources. Through workshops, activities, and in-person sessions, we aim to: Foster a supportive community for dads. Provide education on parenting, wellness, and personal development. Distribute essential supplies, meals, and tools to empower families. This position will support the District Dads Coordinator to complete essential set-up and operational tasks and ultimately ensure that Dads have a great experience during the in-person sessions while accessing vital support.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist District Dads Coordinator with event set-up tasks, including setting up tables, baskets, and other supplies
- Serve nutritious meals to participants during the session Interact with community members in a front-facing role to provide excellent customer service
- Assist District Dads Coordinator with event clean-up tasks
Experience, Knowledge, and Skills Developed May Include:
- Interpersonal skills: Interacting with other volunteers, community members and staff effectively to ensure a seamless event
- Communication skills: Actively listening to other volunteers, staff, and community members when they communicate their needs
- Organizational skills: Ensure event space is neat and clean; assemble household good bags.
Working Description:
While performing the duties of this job, the assistant may be asked to stand for extended periods of time, comfortably lift up to 30 lbs., and maintain an active shift.
Transportation Instructions:
Volunteers may park in the Visitor Parking Lot that is adjacent to the building in spaces marked "MT." Carpooling is strongly encouraged for groups. Street parking is also available on Elvans Road and Gainesville Street. The nearest metro station is Anacostia (GREEN LINE), a 15-minute bus ride away.
